Sky has released the official trailer for the highly anticipated second season of The Last of Us, confirming its return on Monday 14 April. The Sky Exclusive drama will debut new episodes weekly, with fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Joel and Ellie's emotional and harrowing journey.
The first season of The Last of Us was a massive hit for Sky, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about shows of 2023. Adapted from the acclaimed PlayStation game by Naughty Dog, it drew praise for its faithful recreation of the game's storyline, powerful performances, and stunning post-apocalyptic visuals. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey received widespread acclaim for their portrayals of Joel and Ellie, bringing nuance and heart to the beloved characters. The series broke viewership records, with millions tuning in each week to follow the pair's fight for survival across a devastated America overrun by deadly infected creatures and ruthless human survivors.
Season two picks up five years after the events of the first season, with Joel and Ellie now living in Jackson, Wyoming. While they've found a semblance of peace, the world beyond the town's walls remains dangerous, and the scars of their past decisions weigh heavily on them. As tensions rise and new threats emerge, their bond is tested like never before, forcing them to confront hard truths about themselves and each other.
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return to lead the cast, alongside Gabriel Luna as Joel's brother Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria. New faces include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, a key character from The Last of Us Part II game, as well as Isabela Merced as Dina and Young Mazino as Jesse. The expanded cast brings to life an even more complex and emotionally charged storyline, exploring the consequences of vengeance, forgiveness, and survival.
The series is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, with production handled by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and several other studios. With its gripping storytelling, brutal realism, and deeply human characters, The Last of Us has already cemented itself as a modern TV classic. Season two looks set to continue that legacy, promising fans an unforgettable ride when it returns in April.
