BBC Factual has announced that TV and radio presenter Vick Hope will be joining Countryfile as a permanent presenter, bringing her passion for nature and her personal connection to the countryside to the long-running show. She joins a beloved team that includes John Craven, Matt Baker, Anita Rani, Adam Henson, Hamza Yassin, and many more, adding her own energy and enthusiasm to the mix.

For Vick, this new role feels like a homecoming. She shared her excitement, saying, "I'm delighted to be joining the Countryfile team. Spending time in nature has always been hugely important to me, so the chance to learn ever more about the world around us from such beautifully diverse perspectives is incredibly special. I grew up not too far from Kielder Forest, where my first filming will take place, and have fond memories of orienteering there as a child. The opportunity to return and champion an area that has meant so much to me is an incredible full circle moment, I can't wait."

Her first assignment sees her team up with fellow Tynesider Matt Baker to explore Kielder Forest in Northumberland, an area known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity. The duo will delve into how the forest is evolving to create a sustainable future, balancing the needs of wildlife with those of the local community. Vick will also roll up her sleeves at the Kielder Salmon Centre, getting hands-on with an important conservation task, collecting juvenile freshwater pearl mussels to help protect this endangered species.

Series Editor Mark Beech expressed his excitement about Vick's arrival, noting her authentic connection to the countryside and the unique perspective she brings. "Growing up in rural Northumberland, Vick has a genuine bond with the landscape. We're thrilled to have her on board and can't wait to see her lace up her boots, brave the elements, and immerse herself in the people and places that make our countryside so special."

Commissioning Editor Jasmyn McGuile added, "Countryfile is one of our most-loved series, and Vick is the perfect addition to our presenting team. We're delighted she's chosen to join us, and we know viewers will enjoy following her adventures as she explores the countryside and shares its many stories."

Countryfile continues to be a Sunday evening staple on BBC One and iPlayer, regularly drawing in nearly four million viewers. Vick Hope's debut episode airs on Sunday, 9 March 2025, promising a fresh perspective and a heartfelt return to her roots as she embarks on this new chapter.
