Filming is underway for the second series of ITV's gripping thriller Red Eye, with Jing Lusi stepping back into her role as DS Hana Li and Lesley Sharp returning as MI5 head Madeline Delaney. The new series, produced by Bad Wolf and written by Peter A. Dowling, promises even more tension and intrigue, with Martin Compston joining the cast as a guest star.

Lusi shared her excitement, saying she was thrilled to return to the world of Red Eye and looked forward to working alongside Compston. He echoed her enthusiasm, saying he was delighted to join the team and hoping to build on the first series' huge success. The initial run drew over 8 million viewers and racked up nearly 30 million streams on ITVX, cementing its place as one of ITV's top ten dramas of 2024.

This new chapter brings a fresh conspiracy for DS Hana Li to unravel, with Jemma Moore reprising her role as journalist Jess Li. The six-episode series will once again be written by Dowling, with an episode from Jingan Young, and directed by Kieron Hawkes and Camilla Strøm Henriksen.

The production is helmed by Bad Wolf, the studio behind Doctor Who and His Dark Materials. Executive producers Julie Gardner and Lachlan MacKinnon praised Dowling's intense, twist-filled storytelling and expressed gratitude to ITV for giving them another chance to share the show with audiences.

With international distribution handled by Sony Pictures Television, the first series has already reached over 120 territories worldwide, even earning a Broadcast Award for International Programme Sales. With a winning combination of returning favourites, new talent, and the promise of more high-stakes thrills, Red Eye series two is shaping up to be another must-watch hit.
