Fans of the gripping workplace thriller Severance have reason to celebrate as Apple TV+ revealed the official trailer for its highly anticipated second season. The announcement took center stage at CCXP24 in São Paulo, Brazil, where thousands of eager fans gathered for an exclusive first look. Creator and executive producer Dan Erickson, star and executive producer Adam Scott, and cast members Britt Lower and Tramell Tillman were on hand to discuss what's next for Lumon Industries' enigmatic employees.
The new season will premiere globally on Apple TV+ starting Friday, January 17, 2025. The 10-episode season will follow a weekly release schedule, with one episode every Friday through March 21, 2025.
Severance is known for its unique exploration of work-life balance gone awry. In the series, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, where employees undergo a controversial procedure to sever their work and personal memories. This experimental divide creates two distinct lives, or "innies" and "outies." While season one uncovered shocking truths about Lumon's secretive operations, the second season promises even more tension as Mark and his colleagues grapple with the consequences of breaching the severance barrier.
The acclaimed cast returns, including Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette. Season two also introduces new series regulars Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, adding fresh dynamics to the story.
Executive producer and director Ben Stiller leads the creative team once again, helming five episodes this season alongside directors Uta Briesewitz, Sam Donovan, and Jessica Lee Gagné. The show continues to be written and executive produced by Erickson, supported by a roster of celebrated producers, including Beau Willimon and Jackie Cohn.
Season one of Severance captivated audiences and critics alike, earning 14 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Adam Scott. The show took home awards for Outstanding Music Composition and Main Title Design, further cementing its place as a standout in modern television. Its accolades also include Writers Guild of America Awards, Screen Actors Guild nominations, and recognition from the Producers Guild and Directors Guild of America.
Season two builds on this legacy, promising even more twists, emotional depth, and an exploration of the dark consequences of tampering with identity. As the stakes rise for Mark and his colleagues, viewers can expect a season packed with intrigue, moral dilemmas, and stunning revelations.
Mark your calendars for January 17, 2025, when the second season of Severance begins its worldwide rollout on Apple TV+. With its all-star cast, thought-provoking themes, and masterful storytelling, this is one series you won't want to miss.
