Amy Irons is set to lead Scotland's Hogmanay celebrations for the first time on BBC One Scotland and the BBC Scotland Channel, promising a night filled with music, laughter, and reflection as the nation bids farewell to 2024 and welcomes 2025.
The evening begins at 9 p.m. with Des Clarke hosting the Not Quite End of Year show on BBC Scotland. Known for his humor and quick wit, Clarke will guide viewers through a lively mix of entertainment and conversation, joined by guests from the worlds of television and sport. Banjo Beale, Leah MacRae, Dr. Punam Krishan, Sammi Kinghorn, and Fin Graham will share personal highlights from the past year, offering a blend of humor and heartfelt moments. Musical performances will also take center stage with appearances by Marti Pellow, the legendary frontman of Wet Wet Wet, alongside traditional Scottish band Skipinnish and rising star Rianne Downey.
At 11:30 p.m., Amy Irons will take over for the Hogmanay Show, building excitement as the countdown to 2025 approaches. Viewers can expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with music to keep the celebrations going. Marti Pellow, Skipinnish, and Rianne Downey will return for more performances, while jazz singer Georgia Cécile will join Skipinnish for a moving rendition of Auld Lang Syne, capturing the spirit of the occasion.
Amy will also sit down with special guests, including Jack Docherty, best known as Chief Commissioner Cameron Miekelson from Scot Squad, Sheli McCoy from Gladiators, and Marti Pellow, to reflect on standout moments from the past year. Their conversations will add a personal touch to the evening, combining humor with heartfelt reflections.
As midnight nears, the broadcast will shift to Edinburgh, where tradition takes center stage. The Lone Piper will play a haunting tune, followed by the firing of Mons Meg, the iconic cannon that marks the arrival of the New Year. Above the city's skyline, fireworks will illuminate the night sky in a dazzling display accompanied by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, creating a breathtaking spectacle to welcome 2025.
