ITV has officially commissioned a third season of the hit drama Trigger Point, starring Vicky McClure as bomb disposal expert Lana Washington. Produced by Jed Mercurio's HTM Television in association with All3Media International, the high-stakes thriller will return after its second series captivated audiences earlier this year, drawing in an average of 8.1 million viewers and amassing 30 million streams on ITVX.
Trigger Point follows McClure's character, Lana Washington, and her team of bomb disposal officers (EXPOs) as they work against the clock to prevent terrorist attacks in London. In the upcoming third season, Lana and her team are tasked with investigating a deadly bomb threat, which quickly unravels into a chilling personal vendetta. With lives on the line, they must race to stop the mysterious bomber before more victims fall.
Alongside McClure, returning cast members include Eric Shango, Nabil Elouahabi, Natalie Simpson, and Maanuv Thiara, bringing back the intense dynamic that has kept viewers hooked.
The third series will once again feature explosive twists, directed by Jamie Donoghue (Doctor Who) and Audrey Cooke (Trigger Point, DI Ray). Chris Brandon (Bloodlands) will lead the writing team, ensuring the show's signature suspense and action are dialed up. Executive producers include Jed Mercurio, Vicky McClure, and Daniel Walker.
ITV's Head of Drama, Polly Hill, expressed excitement about the show's return: "There are going to be lots more twists, turns, and of course, explosions in this third series. Viewers are going to love it!" Vicky McClure added, "Lana is such a complex character, and I can't wait to dive deeper into her story."
Trigger Point series 3 is set to begin production in London in 2025. Fans can catch up on the first two series, currently available on ITVX.
