Exciting news for Girls Aloud fans! ITV and ITVX have just announced The Girls Aloud Show: Live at The O2. This special was filmed during the band's sell-out tour earlier this year, which saw them perform to over 300,000 people. If you missed the chance to see them live, now's your moment to catch all the highlights and a few behind-the-scenes glimpses in a one-hour special airing later this autumn on ITV1. Even better, the full show will be available to stream on ITVX, so you can relive the magic in all its glory.
It's hard to believe it's been 22 years since Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine, Nicola, and Sarah became pop royalty after winning Popstars: The Rivals. To mark this milestone, and honour their beloved bandmate Sarah, the girls embarked on a huge arena tour across the UK and Ireland in May and June 2024. Fans and critics alike were thrilled, with many praising the emotional and nostalgic performances.
The footage, taken from one of their five sold-out nights at London's iconic O2 Arena, offers fans another chance to witness the magic. Whether you missed the tour or just want to relive your favourite moments, the full show promises to be a real treat when it hits ITVX.
The band members shared their excitement about bringing the tour to TV. Nicola called the tour "a massive celebration" of their journey and a tribute to Sarah, while Cheryl reminisced about the "pure joy and nostalgia" of performing each night. Nadine spoke about the electric atmosphere and how creative the fans got with their costumes, representing different eras of Girls Aloud. Kimberley was equally thrilled, saying it's exciting that everyone who couldn't see the show live now has the chance to experience it.
ITV's Head of Entertainment & Daytime Commissioning, Katie Rawcliffe, echoed the band's enthusiasm, describing the tour as an "enormous success" and sharing how much fun it's been working with the band to bring something extra for the fans.
For those who may not know, Girls Aloud are one of the most successful girl groups of the 2000s, with over 5 million albums sold in the UK. They hold a Guinness World Record for having 20 consecutive UK Top 10 singles, including their massive Christmas Number One Sound of the Underground in 2002. They've also been nominated for five Brit Awards, winning Best Single for The Promise, and have contributed to Children in Need with two official singles.
It's clear that the impact of Girls Aloud is still as strong as ever, and this upcoming show is bound to be a special moment for fans new and old. Whether you were lucky enough to catch them live, or you're tuning in for the first time, The Girls Aloud Show on ITV1 and ITVX will be an unmissable celebration of pop history.
