Sky has just released the first images and teaser of Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, featuring Academy Award® winner Colin Firth and Catherine McCormack. Firth takes on the emotionally charged role of Dr. Jim Swire, while McCormack plays his wife, Jane, in this intense limited series set to air on Sky Atlantic and NOW from 2nd January 2025.

The series delves into the aftermath of the Lockerbie bombing, one of the most harrowing terrorist attacks in history. On 21st December 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over the small Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing 270 people – 259 on board and 11 residents on the ground. Among the victims was Dr. Jim Swire's daughter, a tragedy that propelled him into a decades-long search for justice and truth.

Taking place over 30 years, Lockerbie: A Search for Truth follows Jim's heartbreaking journey from grief-stricken father to a relentless advocate for the victims. Colin Firth delivers a powerful performance as Jim Swire, a man who risks everything, including his own well-being, to seek justice. His mission takes him from the heart of UK politics to the deserts of Libya, where he meets Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, and to the Netherlands, where he follows the trial of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the only man convicted of the bombing. The series examines not just the personal cost to Jim and his wife Jane, but also the devastating ripple effect on families across the globe.

Executive producers Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant, of Carnival Films, shared their thoughts on the significance of the project: "The bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 was one of the most devastating acts of terrorism, claiming innocent lives from both the US and UK. We've followed Jim Swire's extraordinary campaign for over three decades, and it's incredibly powerful to see Colin Firth bring his story to life. This drama is both a moving portrayal of love and loss, and an intense political thriller that shows how one man's determination can challenge the most powerful institutions."

Set against a backdrop of international tension and conspiracy, Lockerbie: A Search for Truth promises to captivate audiences with its blend of personal tragedy, political intrigue, and relentless quest for justice. Firth, known for his nuanced and deeply emotional performances in films like The King's Speech and A Single Man, is joined by a stellar cast including Nabil Alraee as Gaddafi and Ardalan Esmaili as al-Megrahi, ensuring the series offers gripping performances and emotional depth.

The show will be available in the UK and Ireland on Sky Atlantic and NOW from January, with US viewers able to watch on Peacock. It will also be broadcast in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria later in 2025.

Mark your calendars, as this is set to be one of the most compelling dramas of the year, offering a haunting look into a father's fight for justice and the far-reaching impact of one of the world's deadliest acts of terrorism.
