Apple TV+ has released an exclusive first look at the highly anticipated Spanish-language drama series Midnight Family, set to premiere globally on September 25, 2024. This 10-episode medical drama is helmed by showrunner and director Natalia Beristáin and is created for television by Julio Rojas and Ariel Award winner Gibrán Portela. Produced by renowned filmmakers Juan de Dios Larraín and Pablo Larraín, the series will launch with two episodes, followed by weekly releases every Wednesday through November 20, 2024.
Inspired by the award-winning documentary Familia de Medianoche, Midnight Family offers a gripping portrayal of life on the edge in Mexico City. The story centers on Marigaby Tamayo, played by Renata Vaca, an ambitious and talented medical student who moonlights as a paramedic in her family's privately owned ambulance. Alongside her father Ramón (portrayed by Joaquín Cosío), and her brothers Marcus (Diego Calva) and Julito (newcomer Sergio Bautista), Marigaby navigates the high-stakes world of emergency medical services, attending to the city's most urgent and extreme medical emergencies.
The series boasts a stellar Hispanic cast, including Ariel Award winner Joaquín Cosío (Narcos: Mexico), Renata Vaca (Dale Gas), and Diego Calva (Babylon), alongside special appearances by Goya Award winner Óscar Jaenada (Hernán), José María de Tavira (El Candidato), Itzan Escamilla (Élite), Mariana Gómez (The Queen of Flow), Dolores Heredia (Capadocia), and Academy Award nominee Yalitza Aparicio (Roma).
Midnight Family promises to be a heartfelt and thrilling exploration of the Tamayo family's relentless pursuit to save lives amidst the chaos and vibrancy of Mexico City. Through their night-time endeavors, the series delves into the moral and emotional complexities of providing emergency care in a system that often leaves many without access to essential services.
As the premiere date approaches, viewers can anticipate a richly layered narrative brought to life by an accomplished cast and crew. Midnight Family is set to be a poignant and immersive drama that shines a light on the unsung heroes who risk everything to help others in their time of need.
