ITV, in collaboration with MASTERPIECE PBS in the US, has greenlit the 10th season of the beloved crime drama "Grantchester." The announcement comes as the show continues to captivate audiences with its gripping storylines and charming characters.
Robson Green returns as DI Geordie Keating, and he will be joined by Rishi Nair, who steps into the role of Reverend Alphy Kottaram. This follows the departure of Tom Brittney, who played Reverend Will Davenport. Fans can look forward to the new dynamic between Geordie and Alphy when the ninth series airs in 2025.
The series also brings back a stellar ensemble cast, including Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. C, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman, Bradley Hall as DC Larry Peters, and Melissa Johns as Miss Scott. Their return promises to maintain the rich, interconnected world that "Grantchester" fans have come to love.
Daisy Coulam, the series' writer and executive producer, expressed her enthusiasm for the new season: "This show is a testament to our lovely team - the cast and crew. I'm so grateful and proud that we get to come back together for our tenth season and another glorious summer in Grantchester!"
Executive Producer Emma Kingsman-Lloyd echoed these sentiments, highlighting the show's strong following: "We are so delighted by the audience reaction to Grantchester and appreciate that they have enjoyed so many episodes. We are overjoyed to be filming our tenth series and bringing more of Geordie and Alphy's adventures to the screen."
ITV Drama and Comedy Assistant Commissioner Callum Dziedzic also shared his excitement: "Grantchester is so beloved by everyone - the audience, the channel, and the wonderful cast and crew who bring it to life with such passion. We are absolutely delighted to have commissioned another series and can't wait to follow up series 9 with even more mystery, misadventure, and romance."
"Grantchester" is co-produced by Kudos (a Banijay UK Company) and MASTERPIECE for ITV, with Banijay Rights handling international distribution. MASTERPIECE Executive Producer Susanne Simpson noted the show's enduring popularity: "I couldn't be happier to recommission Grantchester for a 10th season. This is hands-down one of our most popular series, and I know the fans will be thrilled to see it continue with the outstanding Robson Green and Rishi Nair back for more crime-solving." MASTERPIECE is presented on PBS by GBH Boston.
Filming for the tenth series is set to begin in July, promising another season of intriguing mysteries, rich character development, and the quintessential charm of "Grantchester." Fans eagerly await the return of their favorite detectives and the unveiling of new adventures in the picturesque village.
