Channel 4 has exciting news for fans of comedy and groundbreaking television alike: "The Change," the BAFTA-nominated series created by and starring Bridget Christie, is set to return for a highly anticipated second season. Produced by Expectation, the acclaimed comedy series has garnered widespread acclaim for its unique blend of humor and social commentary.
In the wake of the series' resounding success, Bridget Christie, renowned stand-up comedian, actor, and writer, has received accolades including a BAFTA nomination for Best Comedy, underscoring her exceptional talent and the series' cultural impact. Christie's portrayal of Linda, a woman navigating life's unexpected twists and turns, has resonated deeply with audiences, earning her widespread recognition as a comedic force to be reckoned with.
"The Change" follows Linda's journey as she grapples with the aftermath of her newfound identity as Eel Queen, a role thrust upon her amidst a series of lies and revelations. As the second season unfolds, Linda finds herself facing even greater challenges, including the return of her husband Steve and the uncertain fate of the forest community she's come to call home.
Reflecting on the series' renewal, Bridget Christie humorously quipped, "What??? I've got a SECOND series?! What was the first one about?" Her wit and charm continue to be a driving force behind the show's success, promising audiences another round of laughter and thought-provoking storytelling.
Charlie Perkins, Head of Comedy at Channel 4, expressed enthusiasm for the series' return, noting its unique perspective and cultural relevance. "The critical and cultural response to series one was special," Perkins remarked. "We're looking forward to being back with Bridget, Expectation, and the eels in The Forest Of Dean."
Morwenna Gordon, Executive Producer at Expectation, praised Christie's vision and the series' empowering portrayal of middle-aged women. "Bridget has created something very special in The Change," Gordon stated. "The show puts too-often invisible, middle-aged women squarely in the spotlight - in motorbike leathers and a headdress – and for that we are eternally grateful!"
With production set to commence later this year, anticipation is running high for the return of "The Change." Casting details for the second season will be announced in due course, promising new faces and familiar favorites as Linda's journey continues to unfold.
As fans eagerly await the next chapter in Linda's adventure, one thing is certain: "The Change" is poised to deliver another dose of laughter, heart, and unapologetically bold storytelling to audiences worldwide. Stay tuned for more updates as the journey unfolds.
