The BAFTA award-winning series Celebrity Race Across the World returns for a highly anticipated second series, premiering at 9 PM on Wednesday, 14 August on BBC One and iPlayer. Produced by the acclaimed Studio Lambert, this thrilling 6x60' series promises viewers another unforgettable journey as celebrities and their loved ones embark on an epic adventure across the South American continent.

The Intrepid Participants

This season, the show features an exciting lineup of famous faces and their close companions, each prepared to tackle a grueling 12,500 km race from the vibrant city of Belém in Northern Brazil to the breathtaking finish line in Frutillar, Southern Chile. The contestants include:

Jeff Brazier and his son, Freddy: The renowned broadcaster brings his son along for this unique bonding experience.
Kola Bokinni and his cousin, Mary Ellen: The actor, known for his roles in critically acclaimed series, teams up with his cousin for the journey.
Kelly Brook and her husband, Jeremy: The model and broadcaster pairs up with her spouse, promising a dynamic duo on the road.
Scott Mills and his husband (then fiancé), Sam: The beloved Radio 2 host and his partner complete the star-studded lineup.
A Journey of Challenges and Discovery

In a departure from their usual luxurious lifestyles, the celebrities will forego smartphones, credit cards, and any form of lavish transport. Instead, they must navigate their way across South America using only their wits, resourcefulness, and the kindness of strangers. This setup not only challenges them physically and mentally but also offers a unique glimpse into their relationships and personalities, as seen through the eyes of those closest to them.

Tim Harcourt, Chief Creative Officer at Studio Lambert, expressed his excitement for the new season, stating, "After the phenomenally successful run of the first celebrity series, and more recently the fourth series of the regular series, we can't wait to bring audiences along with us to the huge South American continent and its jaw-dropping scenery, in a race which will push our celebrities and their loved ones to their absolute limits."

Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning for Factual Entertainment and Events at the BBC, also shared her enthusiasm, saying, "We've been delighted by the success of Celebrity Race Across the World, and are now incredibly excited to see some new famous faces and their loved ones take on this difficult yet highly rewarding race of a lifetime. We cannot wait to watch their journey unfold."

The series is produced by Studio Lambert, part of the All3Media group, with Catherine Catton, Michael Jochnowitz, and Jasmyn McGuile serving as BBC Commissioning Editors and Executive Producers. The show also boasts a talented production team, including Rob Fisher, Charlotte Woolley, Louise Bartmann, Emma Peach, Tim Harcourt, and Production Executive Sophie Beck.

As the celebrities set off on their adventurous race, audiences can look forward to breathtaking landscapes, heartwarming moments, and thrilling challenges. Celebrity Race Across the World promises to be an exhilarating journey not just for the participants but for viewers as well. Don't miss the premiere at 9 PM on 14 August on BBC One and iPlayer.
