The plot of "Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue" centers around a harrowing plane crash in the Mexican jungle. Although all passengers, crew, and the pilot are initially presumed dead, it is soon revealed that only one died from the crash itself. The others were murdered post-crash, each in a distinct manner. The series unravels through flashbacks, introducing viewers to the survivors who grapple with the oppressive heat, limited supplies, jungle dangers, and mounting mistrust. The tension escalates as survivors are systematically killed, leading to a stunning climax and an unexpected revelation.

The ensemble cast includes Eric McCormack ("Will & Grace," "Perception"), David Ajala ("Star Trek: Discovery") as Zack, Lydia Wilson ("The Swarm") as Sonja, Peter Gadiot ("Yellowjackets") as Carlos, Siobhán McSweeney ("Derry Girls") as Lisa, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson ("The Tourist") as Travis, Adam Long ("Happy Valley") as Dan, and Jan Le ("The Capture") as Amy. Filming is currently underway in the Canary Islands.

Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, expressed her enthusiasm: "'Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue' is an ingenious, original, and suspenseful murder mystery multiplied by nine! It is absolutely guaranteed to keep viewers riveted to their screens until the very end."

Jill Green, CEO of Eleventh Hour Films, added: "Our story has a universality which makes it perfect for the BBC. We are thrilled to have assembled a global cast that will bring total authenticity to this original drama."

Michael Wright, Head of MGM+, also praised the series: "'Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue' is a clever and wildly entertaining addition to MGM+'s growing slate of cinematic, edge-of-your-seat thrillers. Anthony Horowitz has spun a masterfully inventive web of deception and intrigue that keeps audiences guessing until the very last axe falls."

"Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue" (6 x 45) is an original series written, created, and executive produced by Anthony Horowitz CBE ("Alex Rider," "Magpie Murders"). Jill Green and Eve Gutierrez serve as executive producers for Eleventh Hour Films, and Sony Pictures Television will handle global distribution.

This latest acquisition underscores the BBC's commitment to bringing high-quality, captivating drama to its audience, ensuring that viewers remain on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
